Living in poverty, foster care, violence, or other difficult situations is never easy, especially with the added pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thankfully, The Matthews House, a local non-profit, is here to support the young adults and families in these situations.

Founded in 2005, the organization works with clients on housing, well-being, education, employment, and life skills to guide them on the road to self-sufficiency.

While this road is challenging, local youth and families have been able to find solace with The Matthews House.

"I was talking to a male youth the other day, and he was saying that during this time he hasn't had to feel isolated because of The Matthews House," said Cicely Booten, Development Director at The Matthews House, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "Multiple staff had called him to check up on him...it's those little things that are really making a difference right now."

However, the organization cannot make a difference without the help of the public.

Due to COVID-19, the non-profit has had to cancel their annual Cultivate Hope fundraiser, which is their primary campaign that allows them to serve at-risk youth and families.

Instead, they are launching a virtual fundraiser called the Holding Hope Campaign.

Until May 8, The Matthews House will be sharing their clients' stories of resilience, while generating funds so they can continue to be there for their clients.

Donations can be made here.

"We're going to continue to hold the hope for our community, for our participants, for our staff," said Booten. "There is hope right now to a path of success in their future."
