This past Saturday's severe weather took a toll on not only a large number of Northern Colorado residents, but also local businesses. Some of the hardest hit were the car dealerships in the Greeley area that are now dealing with a nightmare of insurance claims. We were able to talk with a few of the major dealerships as employees returned to work on Monday and began the process of assessing the damage. Weld County Garage at the corner of Highway 34 and 47 Avenue estimated that in the end, damages to the inventory on their lot would exceed the two million dollar mark. Ehrlich Nissan, also on Highway 34 at 35th Avenue, told us that at this point it was too early to estimate damages and that they were taking measures to protect the inventory on their lot.

Both dealers indicated that they would most likely be holing a "Hail Sale" to help clear out some of the damaged inventory. If you happen to be in the market for a vehicle, we were told that saving from hail damage can be very substantial. Weld County Garage estimated that on some vehicles savings could be as high as $10,000 but added that discounts were highly variable based on the amount of damage. Even if you are not a fan of buying a new car with a few dents, the dealers can get the cars repaired and sell them to you with a disclaimer.

Aside from all of the damage at local dealerships, it's safe to say that plenty of people's cars in the path of the storm were damaged, so we're sure repair shops are packed. Neither of the car dealers we talked with repair hail damage, but one highly recommended Dent Masters as being "the place to go" locally. You'll probably want to contact your insurance agent first though as repairs aren't cheap. We found people online that have received quotes from $500 on up to $10,000 plus!

Hopefully you were lucky enough to escape the storm unscathed, but we know for many that was not the case. Follow the link below to see pictures from Windsor on Saturday afternoon following the severe weather...
