The Grandstands at Fairgrounds Park, which was severely damaged by the September flood, will soon be torn down. It makes me sad to lose a piece of Loveland history. We have put on many great concerts there like Toby Keith, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ty England, Doug Stone, Doug Supernaw, Dan Seals and many more.  The city recently awarded a contract to Wheat Ridge-based All Demolition Excavating Co. for a project that will include the removal of the grandstand at Fairgrounds Park as well as all of the structures located at the nearby Swartz farm.

According to the Loveland Reporter Herald, the $69,800 contract is not expected to cover the cost of disposing hazardous material underneath the grandstand.  Crews won't know exactly what lies beneath the grandstand or how much it will cost to get rid of the material until the structure is demolished.
