A marijuana-themed brewery out of Georgia, owned by a Canadian firm, is going in where Fort Collins Brewery once stood.

If you've been waiting for Red Truck Beer Company to open back up after the pandemic, you'll be sad to know that they won't be doing that.  A brewery called SweetWater Brewing is headed to town to take over the spot.

It was just mid-June that Red Truck was talking about expansion with a larger beer garden at their location, which used to be home to Fort Collins Brewery from 2003 until 2017. Now, there'll be zero expansion as they don't exist anymore.

According to Westword, Red Truck Beer Company was bought out by a Canadian company and will be bringing in a new location of Atlanta-based SweetWater Brewing, which has been in operation since 1997.

SweetWater's slogan is:

We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time.

With this Fort Collins expansion, it does seem like the brewery plans on being around for a long time, however.

They'll be doing a soft-opening on December 15, 2021, with a full opening on Saturday, December 17, 2021.

They do have a '420' vibe, with one of their beers even called '420' and another specialty beer called 'Dank Tank.' They apparently also have a huge 420 event every year. Perhaps they'll team up with Cheba Hut for some great ganja-inspired events for the 'Choice' City.

I still miss Fort Collins Brewery and their Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat. That was a great little brewery. I never got the chance to check out Red Truck before the pandemic and everything, so I'm out of luck there.

On the bright side, Red Truck's general manager will stay on to run operations at the Fort Collins SweetWater brewery.
