A united effort between the Fort Collins Criminal Impact Unit, Loveland Police Department, and U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force resulted in the the arrest of a wanted gang member in Fort Collins on Tuesday afternoon.

Twenty-three year old, John Mercado, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, following an incident in Loveland last November, in which he reportedly shot a man in the chest during an attempted robbery and has been on the run ever since. In a press release, U.S. Marshals noted that the suspect is a member of the Norteño gang. Mercado was arrested at a home near Matuka Court and Conifer Street in Fort Collins, after members of law enforcement surrounded his house and ordered him to come outside.
