Let me just climb up on my soapbox for a moment and say that I HATE Black Friday. The post-Thanksgiving sale frenzy has gradually seeped into Thanksgiving Day. 'Murcah has turned a holiday that is literally about being grateful for what we have into busting down the doors to a Wal-Mart in a greed-fueled stampede.

I digress; to each their own. But, obviously, I applaud stores like REI that could cash in big on Black Friday, but instead, close their doors and encourage people to 'play outside' instead of shop (which after a Thanksgiving dinner ain't a bad idea).

In that same spirit, according to The Denver Channel, 'Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office are teaming up to offer free access to all 42 Colorado state parks.'

This includes Lory State Park, northwest of Fort Collins and Boyd Lake Park in Loveland.

If you snap an Instagram or post on your Facebook about getting out in the wild on November 25, instead of shopping this year, use the hashtag '#FreshAirFriday.'

For more information and a list of parks you can go to with waived admission fees, see the article from The Denver Channel.
