According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, congratulations are in order.

This week, the City of Fort Collins was announced as a 2020 Green Lease Leader during the Better Buildings, Better Plants Summit.

Fort Collins has achieved GOLD Recognition for its efforts in energy efficiency and sustainability practices, such as utility data tracking and sharing, cost recovery for capital improvements and sustainability training.

“It makes environmental, financial, and practical sense to strive to use efficient and sustainable equipment and materials whenever possible,” says Keith Hanson, City of Fort Collins Real Estate Services Manager.

Altogether, Green Lease Leaders manage nearly 3 billion square feet of commercial and government space across North America. IMT estimates that green leases can help reduce utility bills by up to about 50 cents per square foot (22 percent) in U.S. office buildings alone.
