Fort Collins Police was recently honored for following the best practices in public safety.

The department announced in a press release that it was given national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on Saturday.

The honor was given after a multi-year assessment of Fort Collins Police operations. The department has previously been previously honored with accreditation by the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Receiving national accreditation took a tremendous amount of hard work by the men and women of Fort Collins Police Services," said Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda in the press release.

"I am proud of what we have accomplished and for being recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.”
