The city has been testing mosquitoes and the little buggers in NE and SE Fort Collins have tested positive for West Nile.

This is the first time this season that the city has trapped mosquitoes that tested positive for the virus.

According to the Coloradoan, the virus index is still pretty low and they don't plan on spraying until the infected mosquitoes reach a greater index. Also, as a policy, there must be at least two confirmed human cases before they go into control mode.

So far there haven't been any positive readings for the virus outside of Fort Collins.

Residents are encouraged to drain any vessels with standing water, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants while outside and use DEET while out-of-doors in the early and late hours of the day.
