Fort Collins Getting New Sporting Goods Store at Foothills
A void was left in Fort Collins when Sport Authority folded. So, now Dick's Sporting Goods plans to lease the vacant Sports Authority space at Foothills that has never been occupied.
According to the Coloradoan, Sports Authority was supposed to be a junior anchor as part of the $313 million renovation of what was once the Foothills Fashion Mall. The company went broke just a few weeks after Foothills completed the 30,000-square foot building.
Dick's Sporting Goods bought the Sports Authority brand name and other intellectual property for $15 million at bankruptcy auction and picked up 31 of the chain's leases throughout the country. Foothills and Front Range Village were not among the leases purchased for $8 million at auction. Walton Capital controls the lease at Foothills and is negotiating separately with Dick's.
No word yet on when the new Dick's Sporting goods plans to open at Foothills.
