Fort Collins Bus Service To Limit Capacity On Buses
In a press release on Friday (Nov. 6), Transfort, a bus service in Fort Collins, announced that it will limit the number of passengers on buses to half of seated capacity beginning Monday (Nov. 9).
Changes were made after guidance was issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and as a result of COVID-19 cases rising locally in Larimer County and in Colorado.
According to the press release, the new capacity limits mean most Transfort buses, including the FLEX service to Boulder, will have a maximum capacity of 15-20 passengers. MAX service, which has larger vehicles, will have a slightly larger maximum capacity.
To help maintain service with the capacity limits, Transfort says that it will run “trailer buses” following buses on higher-use routes when possible. However, trailer buses will not be provided on FLEX service.
Transfort riders are encouraged to plan ahead for their trips and avoid travel during peak periods; Once a bus reaches maximum capacity, any additional passengers will not be permitted to board the bus.
Buses on existing services will still operate on COVID-19 level schedules. Transfort routes 11, 12, 19, and GOLD will remain suspended.
