Former Weld County Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested
A retired Weld County Sheriff's deputy, who still worked part time for the department, was arrested Tuesday after a standoff with the SWAT team. Ed Herring, the retired deputy, was reported to authorities for alleged domestic violence. He was not immediately cooperative with the Evans Police Officers and ended up barricading himself inside of his residence.
He was eventually taken into custody by the SWAT team after a brief standoff.
Herring was employed by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office for 22 years and had been working part time as a court transport officer since his retirement. He will be placed on unpaid administrative leave.
