A CSU Professor of Communications, Michael Humphrey, recently talked about Fort Collins' beer scene in an article for Forbes that was published this morning.

Professor Michael Humphrey writes about how, while he's extremely worried about those who have fallen ill across the U.S. in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, he's also worried about what gives Fort Collins a huge part of its identity: its beer scene.

Yes, Fort Collins, Colo. is also a college town, a music town, a rock-climbing town, and a biking town, but nothing sets us apart quite like the brewery sceneNew Belgium made us famous, and Odell Brewing reinforced this place as a harbor for liquid gold, and the microbreweries off the beaten path really make this town special. Since Governor Polis ordered bars and breweries be limited to to-go orders only, some breweries have been fighting the good fight and delivering growlers curbside, while others have closed up shop.

Humphrey cites beer packaging as the solution: after all, the safest solution is grabbing to-go cans of your favorite brew and taking it home to enjoy during your quarantine in peace. However, not every brewery has the luxuries afforded to a giant like New Belgium: some, like Equinox Brewing (featured in the article) rely heavily on in-person taproom sales.

Essentially, the writer hopes that Fort Collins will continue to pay tribute to what has and will always make this city great, even during a crisis: our amazing local breweries. Read the full article right here.
