Footwear Causes Accident at a Colorado Restaurant
The warmer months are upon us in Colorado. Like many of us do, we tend to get a little carefree when the temperatures start to heat up. Our windows are down in the car, and the music is cranked up.
Some even go so far as to take off their shoes while driving around, too. Well, in case you didn't know, driving while barefoot is dangerous. Especially if you have your footwear in the driver's side floorboard.

Just ask a girl who ran into a fast food restaurant in Broomfield, Colorado. The girl told Broomfield Police that she kicked off her flip-flops while she was driving, and one of them slid under the gas pedal. While she was attempting to slide them back on, her foot got caught on the gas pedal while she was pulling into a parking space, and she floored it into the side of Popeye's Chicken.

Broomfield Police posted the photos and the details of the incident from March 25, 2025, to X stating that no one was injured in the ordeal. The Broomfield Police Department added that drivers should take proper measures to not be distracted while driving and to never have any possible items under the pedals of a vehicle.
The Broomfield Police Department did not state whether the girl was cited for careless driving and destruction of property damage. We do know one thing, however: her parents are probably not too happy with the damage to the car and the damage done to Popeye's Chicken.
