Five Albums That Prove There is Still ‘Country’ in Country Music [VIDEO]
I hear people complain all the time that they are not hearing enough "country" in their country music. They must not be looking because it is there and it is awesome! I admit there is a lot of pop sounding country but country has always evolved and will continue to do so. It would be really boring if everything sounded the same year after year.
I am one who does love the traditional country sound and appreciate it when I hear it. There is still plenty of it to go around, it is just mixed in with some other sounds these days but it is still there. If you have complained that you aren't getting enough real country you need to check out a few of these releases. There are a lot of great artists making real sawdust smelling whiskey soaked country and here are a few. If these are not in your collection I suggest you buy them today and get ready for some honky tonkin.
I admit I was slow to jump on the Stapleton train. I wasn't knocked out by his first two albums but his latest "From a Room Vol 2" is pure genius. This is killer country album that you must own.
Luke has blown up the airwaves this past year with his number one hits "Hurricane" and "When It Rains It Pours" and his third single "One Number Away" may be his best yet. Luke's debut album is one of the biggest surprises and treats of the last year. This boy is a country force to be reckoned with.
I was slow to learn about Cody as well. My son actually turned me on to a song called "Hippies and Cowboys" and I have been hooked ever since. Cody's last album "I'm Not The Devil" is as country as it gets.
Aaron has become the new king of traditional country. He keeps getting better with each album. This guys is a real cowboy and a real class man. I am a huge fan and this may be his best work yet. Get this one and every thing that has Aaron's name on it.
No one has made real country as cool as Midland has in a long time. These three guys have made the best album I have heard in years and it sounds like it would fit in any decade over the last 50 years. Great music is timeless and these boys have released a timeless debut album with 'On The Rocks". Your collection is not complete if you do not own this one. Can't wait for what the future hold for Midland.
