One of my worst nightmares is missing a flight or a connection at an airport. Thankfully, it's never happened. There have been a few close calls in my days of flying out of Denver International Airport, however.

DIA Travelers May Soon Have Another Way to Reach Their Gates

I've seen the photos and videos all over social media when it comes to the long security lines and trains not working. I can only wonder what happens if someone misses their flight due to situations like this.

Arguably, one of the worst parts of the Denver Airport is that there is no way to simply walk to each concourse. The trains are the only way to get to your gate. Personally, I would rather take the train to Concourse C, but if I had to power walk the entire way to ensure I made it to my flight, I would certainly do what I need to do to make it.

This has been a gripe of travelers for years, and it appears that Denver International Airport has decided it is time to have a viable option to walk to each concourse. In a news release on Tuesday, May 26, Denver Airport announced plans for pedestrian walkways, connecting the concourses by something other than the train.

Denver International Airport will repurpose portions of the existing underground baggage tunnels for the pedestrian walkways, connecting Concourses A to B and Concourses B to C.

Construction on DIA Walkways Could Start in 2027

Currently, the project details are being finalized, and construction will start on these new pedestrian walkways, connecting each of the Denver International Airport terminals, in 2027.
