Couple Stabbed by Family Member in Longmont
A Longmont couple were the victims of a stabbing that took place over the weekend. According to 9 News, the incident took place just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning near 6th Avenue and Martin Street.
The victims, a 61-year-old man and his 54-year-old wife, sustained numerous stab wounds during the incident. The couple was taken to multiple Longmont hospitals for treatment. The man was transported via helicopter to a Denver hospital, where he was in critical condition. His wife is in stable condition and is expected to live.
The suspect, Jose Rafael Mares-Arredondo, 24, is a family member and resident of the home. He was arrested approximately a mile and half from the home about 30 minutes after first responders arrived at the location. Mares-Arredondo is currently being held at the Boulder County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and first-degree assault.
