Colorado’s Iconic Glenwood Hot Springs Therapy Pool Is Now Open
Following a months-long (and much deserved) renovation project, one of Colorado's oldest, most popular tourist attractions is now open just in time for warmer weather and the official start of summer.
Colorado's iconic Glenwood Hot Springs Resort recently reopened its hot (104-degrees, hot) therapy pool for the first time in four months; its official reopening date was Friday, May 27.
The therapy pool had been closed for renovations and repairs, which seems more than necessary, as the pool had not had any significant work on it in decades - since the 1960s, according to resort officials.
“Instead of waiting to reopen the Therapy Pool, we decided to move ahead so guests can enjoy soaking in 104-degree natural hot springs goodness on the east end again and to return Hanging Lake Pool back to its usual temperature as part of the family-friendly Sopris Splash Zone,” said Kevin Flohr, director of operations for Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.
Glenwood Hot Springs Therapy Pool Undergoes Renovations - What's Changed?
Visited by thousands of Coloradans and out-of-towners annually, the resort's therapy pool was in need of some love, considering it'd received little to no TLC since the 60s; during renovations, the Glenwood Hot Springs Therapy pool received upgrades including a full redesign and infrastructure work, according to a press release via Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.
The resort has installed improved lighting, as well as a new ADA ramp to help make getting in and out of the Therapy Pool easier any time of day.
In addition, all pool locker rooms on the main and upper floors of the bathhouse at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort have been fully remodeled with a new sound system, flooring, fixtures, wall treatments, and LED lighting.
"Not only can guests change and shower in the locker rooms, they also can store personal belongings in new lockers available at no cost", the press release says.
What's more? The resort says the installation of new therapy jet chairs and power shower clusters for upper-body massages will be coming soon; installations have been slightly delayed due to supply chain issues.
Glenwood Hot Springs Resort's therapy pool is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Friday, May 27 through Labor Day weekend.
