Colorado State University is the greenest higher-learning institution in the United States according to BestColleges.com.

CSU was named the winner after ranking more than 240 universities across the nation on sustainably practices such as academics, operations, planning and administration, and engagement.

The campus offers programs in ecosystem science, sustainability, alternative fuels, conservation and many more. Academic areas at CSU that address environmental sustainability are offered in all eight of the University's colleges and span across programs in engineering, natural resources, forestry, public policy, environmental ethics, global and sustainable business, atmospheric science, soil and crop sciences, construction management, and many other programs.

 

Previously, CSU became the first and only campus to achieve platinum status under the STARS rating system, an independent program that measures comprehensive sustainability efforts at more than 700 universities across the world.

CSU is even featured in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in the Places of Invention exhibit. CSU is honored for it's sustainability, green energy and for inventions in energy, including the Prieto battery developed at CSU.
