Colorado Rockies Fans Might Be a Little Basic
Some would argue that the team is as well.
Baseball has always been a part of my life. I'm pretty sure I took my first steps at my brother's games. As soon as I was able, my parents signed me up for tee-ball which sparked a love for softball, a sport I played until no one would have me anymore.
And how can you not love the atmosphere at a game?
It's a laid back sport as far as spectating goes. You can grab a beer, chow down on a hot dog, and catch a tan all in one afternoon. It's America's pastime and we are fortunate to have it on the professional level in Colorado.
So how hardcore of a fan are you of the Rockies?
According to Bleacher Report... we're OK fans. We landed right in the middle of their list of best baseball fanbases in America. And I mean right in the middle at number 15. There are 30 Major League Baseball teams.
This means that we're not really bad, but we're not really great either. We're just basic.
Now, some would argue that the Rockies are basic and the sport in general is basic. There's a lot of downtime in baseball and there aren't any big touchdowns or drained three-pointers that keep us energized. It's a low-scoring game and the highs are few and far between.
Perhaps all baseball fanbases are basic, now that I think about it.
But at least we have a team to cheer for. Not every state has a team so our fanbase isn't strictly in Colorado. In fact, this map shows that Montana, Wyoming and New Mexico all cheer for our Rockies. That's s nice strip of purple mountains majesty in the middle of the nation.
