What would you buy with $3.1 million? That’s probably something we’ll never truly have to ask ourselves. But someone in Colorado Springs is asking that very question, because the (almost) impossible just happened, they won $3.1 million with the Colorado Lottery Lotto+ jackpot.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Safeway store in Colorado Springs. If the winner decides to take the cash as a lump sum rather than an annuity, they’ll bring home a whopping $1.56 million. Not a bad day.

And get this, there were actually multiple jackpot winners within just a few days of each other, which is incredibly rare.

And that's not all. There's been a streak of winners in Colorado as of late. Most of the lucky Coloradans are winning between $1,000 and all the way up to $100,000! This story makes me think I need to go out and buy a ticket ASAP.

Here's a feel good story about a recent Colorado Lottery winner

A homeless man in Alamosa, Colorado recently won an incredible one million dollars off of a scratcher. I call them scratchers. According to 9 News the gentleman said it completely changed his life and helped him support his family.

Here are just a few Colorado Lottery facts

  • The Colorado Lottery was established in 1983. That's the year I was born! Ugh.
  • Have you ever heard of GOCO? It stands for Great Outdoors Colorado and part of the lottery revenue goes back to funding outdoor projects.
  •  Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto+, Cash 5, and scratch tickets are just a few games you can play.
  • Players can choose between a lump sum or annuity for large jackpot wins. Lump sum is going to have a hefty tax while annuity is a yearly guaranteed sum.
  • If you live in Colorado you only have 180 days to claim your prize.
  •  Colorado allows some winners to remain anonymous under certain conditions. What does some mean though?

So get out there and get yourself a ticket because Colorado has been lucky!
