A man who was let out of prison to dillute the population during the COVID-19 pandemic has been charged with shooting and killing a Denver woman.

According to Denver 7, Cornelius Haney was released from jail about a month ago due to concerns about the coronavirus. He is now back behind bars, accused of murdering 21-year-old Heather Perry. Police say Perry's body was discovered in an alleyway in Denver on May 9.

The shooting happened near the 1400 block of Colfax Avenue Saturday morning. Police used security camera footage to track down Haney and make the arrest.
