After avoiding spoilers for well over a month, I finally got my hands on one of my most anticipated books of the year this weekend!

I was out for a fun afternoon with my Dad in Old Town Fort Collins on Saturday. We were walking past Bookstore on the Square when something in their window caught my eye.

THE NEWEST HUNGER GAMES BOOK! In seconds, I had sprinted inside this adorable shop to find myself a copy to purchase.

‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ by Suzanne Collins: What You Need to Know

In March, 'Hunger Games' author Suzanne Collins, released another story in her bestselling book franchise entitled "Sunrise on the Reaping."

The Hunger Games Is Back—And Fans in Colorado Are Ready

The hit dystopian series is making a huge resurgence. It's been thirteen since the original series concluded and we said goodbye to the characters played by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson.

Haymitch’s Origin Story in ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ Explained

Now, fans are diving back into the world of Panem with the prequel book 'Sunrise on the Reaping.' This book that has already been greenlit for a movie adaptation follows a younger version of Harrelson's character Haymitch as he navigates his games.

This is set twenty-four years before we first meet Katniss Everdeen.

The Timeline: From Katniss to Coriolanus Snow

Not too long ago, fans got 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.' This story follows an eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow (the President of Panem and the ultimate villain in the original series) sixty-four years before Katniss's games.

Where Is Colorado in the Hunger Games Universe?

So, now that the Hunger Games is popular again, I had to know where would Colorado fit in to this fictional version of North America.

This entire series takes place in a dystopian version of the United States of America. All of Panem is split into twelve separate districts.

Panem Districts and Their Real-World U.S. Counterparts

Each state as we know it is located in one of these districts. All of them are meant to contribute some sort of resource or specialize in some sort of product to produce.

Here are the twelve districts and what they are known for:

District 1: Luxury Items

District 2: Masonry

District 3: Technology

District 4: Fishing

District 5: Electricity

District 6: Transportation

District 7: Lumber

District 8: Textiles

District 9: Grain

District 10: Livestock

District 11: Agriculture

District 12: Mining/Coal

Unfortunately there are conflicting accounts of the official Panem geography depending on what side of the internet you're on.

Colorado’s Hunger Games Identity: Districts 2, 6, and 9

According to one user, Colorado is actually split between three districts; District 2, 6, and 9. These are the masonry, transportation, and grain districts respectively.

Could the Capitol of Panem Be in Colorado?

The official Hunger Games Wikipedia page confirms that District 2 is to the south of the Capital of Panem, situating it right in Colorado and New Mexico.

Was President Snow Secretly in Grand Junction? Fans Think So

Also, parts of Colorado are apparently located right in the Capital! So, the western most parts of the Centennial State would have been the home base for the majority of the action and conflict in the franchise.

Could it have been possible that President Snow was plotting ways to destroy Katniss right in Grand Junction? If you believe the fictional geography, then possibly!
