Law enforcement agencies work hard to keep our cities and towns in Colorado safe. Whether they are on the scene assisting citizens, patrolling neighborhoods, or fighting dangerous crime, officers encounter a variety of different situations while on duty.

However, last week, officers in Douglas County dealt with an unusual occurrence during a traffic stop, and admitted, it's not something they see every day.

Just after 11 p.m. on July 28, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office were called to assist Colorado State Patrol with a car accident and DUI arrest. The sheriff's office noted that in these types of cases, it's not uncommon to come across a dog in the car, and will always help the canine find a safe place to stay.

This time the driver did have an animal in the car with him, just not a dog. Rather, a small goat was riding along as the passenger. Thankfully, he was not injured in the crash.

Since the driver was arrested, deputies took "custody" of the goat and transported him to the Buddy Center in Castle Rock. Although the reason for the original call was negative, officers made the most out of the baaa-d situation and even snapped a few photos of their adorable passenger.
