Having a dog is part of normal life for Colorado residents. Honestly, I cannot think of a single friend who does not have a dog that lives in Colorado. When it comes to dogs, I love all breeds and sizes, but I do have a preference when it comes to the type of dog I want to own.
Both my wife and I are die-hard German Shepherd lovers. They are loyal, energetic, and way too smart for their own good. It appears that Coloradans have a love for one dog breed, making it the most popular in the Centennial State.

Colorado's favorite breed is also the most favored in the United States, according to Fox 21 News. Colorado residents searched the most popular dog breed on Google a total of 22,095 times per month, and the second most popular dog breed in Colorado, the Bernese Mountain Dog, was Googled 15,649 times per month.

Colorado's most favorite dog breed is none other than the Golden Retriever. Anywhere you go in the state, you are bound to see at least one or two Golden Retrievers. The breed is so popular that there is an annual festival in Golden, Colorado, dedicated to Golden Retrievers, called Goldens in Golden.

Owners of Golden Retrievers flock to the city every year to show off their pups and make new friends. The event started in 2019 and has gained popularity every year since. This year's event drew in a record-breaking 5,500 Golden Retrievers and their owners from across the globe.
