She's been a staple on your television news for the last 18 years, and now Cheryl Preheim on 9NEWS will be off on a new adventure, in a new city.

According to 9NEWS, Cheryl will anchor her last newscast on December 16th before she and her family move to Atlanta where Cheryl will work for WXIA.

To have nearly two decades of television news is a testament to how Cheryl approaches journalism. 9NEWS uses the words "passionate" and "compassionate" to describe Preheim, and I could not agree anymore. Cheryl will leave Colorado news with numerous awards including six regional prestigious Edward R Murrow for Journalism Awards.

In addition to countless interviews and telling the stories of the world to Coloradans (or Coloradoans, dang colloquialism) Cheryl was also not afraid to share her story and in the process helping many.

After spending time at Children's Hospital Colorado with her son's open-heart surgery, Cheryl was able to start the "Brave Conquers Fear" campaign to help young kids who were also facing medical challenges.

If it feels like you are saying "goodbye" to a friend, though you have never met, when Cheryl leaves the news it means she's done something right. Congratulations to a fantastic journalist on the next adventure.
