Ride Train in Northern Colorado For $1
With Memorial Day having come and gone, for many families in the area, the question now turns to what to do with the kids this summer. Many will go to daycare, have a babysitter, stay at home and sleep, but what do you do with them to get out and have fun? Some kids will enjoy going fishing, some will want to spend all summer at the pool, and some will want to play, watch TV, and be a typical summer lazy kid. There are plenty of fun things to do around Northern Colorado, though, and one such thing is now open for children of all ages to enjoy. If you have a little one or a child who enjoys trains, there is one they can enjoy for only $1 all summer long in Northern Colorado.
Ride the Train for $1 in Northern Colorado
On a beautiful summer day, it is always nice to get outside, and Northern Colorado is filled with many beautiful parks to get out and enjoy. One such park is North Lake Park in the middle of Loveland. It is a beautiful area near the Benson Sculpture Garden, but one other thing people love about this park is that it is home to the Buckhorn Northern Railroad. For those unfamiliar with what that is, it is a train that children, older kids, and adults can ride for only $1 for every rider. The train officially opened on Memorial Day weekend and will be open for business through the summer, all the way to Labor Day.
Buckhorn Northern Railroad
The train is open Tuesday 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Wednesday 2 PM to 7:30 PM, and Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The train is closed on Mondays, or may close due to weather at any time. The train only accepts cash, but if you are not someone who has cash on them, do not worry, as there is an ATM in the park. The train has been operating since 1977, and the city of Loveland purchased it in 1988 and has been operating it since then. The train ride has 1,588 feet of track, a small depot, a tunnel, a water tower, a gasoline-powered engine, two open passenger cars, a cattle car, and a caboose.
