Now that Brett Young is a married man, he and wife Taylor Mills are learning to balance family time during the holiday season.

One holiday they've successfully planned for is this Thanksgiving. The couple will be able to celebrate their first holiday as newlyweds with both of their families when they all come together in Oxford, Miss. Young reveals they'll travel to his alma mater, University of Mississippi, for the annual Egg Bowl where Mississippi State faces off against Ole Miss. The occasion is particularly special, as Young and Mills will be able to experience the thankful holiday in the town where they got engaged in February of 2018.

With their marriage comes a union of family members, and the country star says balancing time between all their loved ones is important.

"I'm getting the feeling with our families being as close as they are and as involved as they are, it's going to be a lot of last-minute decisions and not based on who gets what, but who's able to do what or who's able to travel where," Young anticipates about holiday planning. "I think we're intent on splitting time as well as possible. It's brand-new, so that's still a learning curve we haven't figured out yet."

Though the couple is still establishing their plans for Christmas, food is one aspect Young is looking forward to indulging in. His close friend and "Mercy" video director Seth Kupersmith introduced him to a hot buttered rum drink he hopes he can find the time to make.

But one standing tradition he's already anticipating is his mother's unique holiday dish. "My mom makes her homemade chili every year for Christmas and I love my mom's chili. I think it's a little bit weird, but I love it," he describes. "She's got her own thing."

Young and Mills wed on Nov. 3 in Palm Springs, Calif., and their special day featured performances by friends Lee Brice and Gavin DeGraw.

Young is set to release his sophomore album, Ticket to L.A., on Dec. 7. He's also nominated in the New Artist of the Year category at the 2018 CMA Awards, coming up Nov. 14.
