If I won the lottery and had all the time in the world, there's nothing I would love more than to buy a stack of books and read all day and night. It really is one of my favorite things to do.

Another thing I love is the state I live in. Colorado churns out some incredibly talented writers, so let's take a look at some books written by native Coloradoans.

Peter Heller

The Dog Stars is a crazy-good post-apocalyptic story set right here in Colorado. The author Peter Heller was born in New York City but settled in Colorado early in life.

The Dog Stars has been adapted into a movie starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin and will be released at the end of August.

Clive Cussler

Cussler is best known for his adventure series, Dirk Pitt, which is described as basically Indiana Jones, which means I am 1000% in. Before Cussler became a professional writer, his job was to explore shipwrecks. Literally.

Pam Houston

If you're a fan of Yellowstone you're going to love the books that Colorado's very own Pam Houston has written. Heavy on the cowboy theme this long time resident uses her experiance growing up in Colorado to help paint the scenes of the wild west.

Laura Pritchett

Pritchett writes her books for young adults. A mixture of magic and Colorado landscape, this is definetly an author I'm sure my 8 year old will love.

Pritchett also touches on topics like cultural identity, friendship, family and indeginous communitites.

I guess Colorado churns out some pretty amazing authors.

Stephen King's 6 Books Based in Colorado: Fun Fact, He Lived Here

Stephen King, one of the best authors of all time, lived in Boulder, Colorado, in 1974. His time in Colorado was inspiring, and these best-selling novels were based in Colorado.
