An armed Loveland man was found dead after a lengthy standoff with Loveland Police and SWAT team officials on Tuesday.

According to a Loveland Police press release, the incident began around 8 a.m. when a Larimer County Sheriff's office deputy attempted to serve a court-ordered eviction of a resident at the Monroe Apartments at 930 N. Monroe Ave.

The resident then allegedly threatened the deputy with a gun. The Monroe Apartments were then evacuated and put on lock down as the armed man barricaded himself in the apartment.

Several unsuccessful attempts were made to negotiate in getting the male to leave. After several hours, SWAT team officials entered the residence and found the armed male dead.

The investigation has been turned over the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
