Counties across Colorado are trying desperately to curb COVID-19 cases, but with numbers on the rise, many counties are taking drastic measures.

Adams County announced on November 6th that residents will have to adhere to a curfew starting at 10 p.m., which will be in effect for 30 days. Only essential workers will be allowed out after that time.

But can authorities really stop you if you're out walking on the street? Turns out, they can. Officials say that while they're hoping everyone will comply, "the order may be enforced by any appropriate legal means." The Adams County Commissioner says that we are at a "critical" point in this pandemic, and Tri-County Health Department executive director John M. Douglas Jr. told The Denver Channel:

The restrictions might seem uncomfortable, but we believe that they are one of our last best hopes to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community without the necessity of Adams County moving to the Stay at Home orders that we had in the spring.

Officials are worried about an increase in hospitalizations with a lack of free hospital beds, which is the main reason for the curfew.
