Get ready to shred some gnar — because two Colorado ski resorts are opening for the 2021/22 season this weekend.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will open to the public on Sunday (Oct. 17). According to a blog from the ski resort, skiers and snowboarders can access the High Noon run via the Black Mountain Express lift.

Ambitious riders might also have the chance to show off their skills in the Banana Terrain Park.

"These are exciting times," said Alan Henceroth, Chief Operating Officer of Arapahoe Basin, in the blog. "It is so fun to get chairlifts spinning again. I can't wait to see all of your smiling faces on the hill."

As for the resort's top competitor? Loveland Ski Area doesn't have an opening date yet, although Snowpak estimates that it will be on Halloween (Oct. 31).

However, Wolf Creek Ski Area is set to open on Saturday (Oct. 16). According to a press release from the resort, snow enthusiasts can access the Tranquility, Treasure, Navajo, and Summer Days trails, along with other partially open trails.

If you do plan to head to Wolf Creek, be mindful of early-season conditions.

"Wolf Creek wants to educate skiers and riders that early season conditions warrant extra cautious skiing and riding; terrain can be more difficult than expected if obstacles need to be avoided or snowpack is thin," read the release.

Keystone Resort is also rumored to open in October.

WesternSlopeNow.com reports that Breckenridge, Vail, Winter Park, Eldora, Purgatory, Steamboat, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek, Crested Butte, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Telluride, and Powderhorn will open in November.  Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Sunlight are set for December openings.
