All it takes is this one little mistake made by your friends or family to lose your life.

The Colorado Department of Transportation recently launched its Beware of the Beltless campaign, urging more people to always buckle up and raising awareness that refusing to buckle up doesn't just affect that person - it also puts all vehicle occupants at risk.

CDOT also put up a 45-foot-tall, 3-dimensional wall scape of an inflated air bag in downtown Denver that points to the simple fact: an airbag won't necessarily save you from an unbuckled passenger.

"We want people to know that even if they're buckled up, an unbuckled person anywhere in the car puts everyone at risk of serious injury or death," said CDOT Communications Manager Sam Cole in a statement. "No air bag, seat belt, or crumple zones will protect you from an unbuckled passenger when they become a projectile inside of the car."

The air bag wall scape is hung up on the side of the Courtyard Marriott at Curtis Street and 16th Street Mall and will stay there until July 24.

According to CDOT, 15% of Coloradans don't buckle up, and there were 181 fatalities statewide related to unbuckled vehicle occupants in 2015 alone.
