I think we have established the fact that marijuana is now legal in Colorado. Without getting into specific details, you can smoke it, eat it, sell it and grow it, but we learned today that you cannot use federal irrigation water to help it grow!

Irrigation water from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is off limits to pot grow operations even though states like Colorado have legalized recreational or medical use of the drug.

The agency said that marijuana growing remains illegal under federal law, so irrigation water from its dams is a no-no for weed farmers.

Local water districts that receive water from the bureau are still unclear whether or not their water can be used to grow pot.
