If you are a Larimer County resident, you may drop off your Christmas trees for recycling at the Larimer County Landfill in Fort Collins, free of charge through January 21st, which is Martin Luther King Jr’s Day.

Trees taken to the Landfill and Fort Collins sites will be ground into mulch which will then be available for free to residents in the spring at the Landfill.

Trees must be thoroughly “cleaned up" before being dropped off—all lights, tinsel, garland, plastic wrap, tree stands, wire, rope, nails, and any other foreign materials MUST be removed from the trees before bringing to the drop off sites. Flocked trees (those decorated with fake snow) CANNOT be recycled.

The Larimer County Landfill is at 5887 S. Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins
