Like a lot of people, I thought this was a slam-dunk case of texting and driving. However, the woman who drove into a Wellington school bus at 55 MPH said she was overwhelmed by the sun’s glare.

You’ve got sun right there on the horizon. That’s all I can remember up to the accident

According to CBS4, Ashlie Dickerson claims she wasn't texting when she slammed into the back of the bus. She said she never sent a text at all that day, and the only calls she received were from her boss asking where she was. Those records were made available to investigators.

The Colorado State Patrol cited Dickerson with “inattentive” or careless driving. She is thankful and grateful no children on the bus were seriously hurt. Dickerson was seriously injured by the crash.
