We hope you are ready for the first official snowstorm in the Fort Collins metro area, because you won't be able to escape it.

A "Winter Storm Warning" is in effect until noon on Wednesday. Two to six inches is possible in Fort Collins and the surrounding area while the Estes Park area could see between five to ten inches of snow.

The wind will probably be the bigger story of the first storm of the year. Gusts could exceed 40 MPH in the area with the Eastern Plains feeling the brunt of the conditions. Travel on 287 from Fort Collins to the Wyoming border will also feel the effects of drifting snow and zero visibility.

The city of Fort Collins told the Coloradoan that they are ready for the snow, with 25 plows covering nine routes throughout the area.

Temperatures throughout the area on Wednesday will only get up to around 42 degrees but if you want the milder weather, you only have to wait for the weekend. Temperatures will be back up to 60 degrees for the weekend.
