It is hard to believe it has been seven years since that terrifying day. May 22, 2008 will forever live in the minds of Windsor residents. We can remember the sky turning black and starting to churn like we had never seen before. People were running for cover anywhere they could find as the sky spun and came down over our town causing so much property and personal damage and unfortunately, also the loss of a life.

The tornado seemed to stay on the ground forever as parts of our history and livelihood were shredded by the force of this powerful twister. So many people lost homes and other property in this tragedy. The fear of wondering where our loved ones were and if they were safe is still fresh in our minds. There were family members and friends huddled under overpasses and ditches and anyplace they could find to try to shelter themselves from the force of the storm.

Here it is seven years later and as you drive around Windsor you would never know it ever happened. We are a community of people who take care of our own and that was never more evident than following this tragedy. We banded together and helped our neighbors rebuild this beautiful town. It is a day we will never forget and the way we reacted made me so proud to be apart of this wonderful community for the past three decades. We love our town of Windsor and are still standing tall and proud.
