Talk about a “May Day” for some folks in Greeley today. A roof was ripped off a house this afternoon after a suspected “microburst” of wind.  Just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, Greeley firefighters were called to 2405 49th Ave. Ct, in Greeley on a report of on a possible explosion. When Greeley firefighters arrived they found the roof had been completely torn off of the home, apparently from a wind “microburst.”

Investigation determined that a microburst of wind had caught the eave of the house and subsequently peeled back the roofing materials. A City of Greeley Building Inspector was called to the scene and the home was deemed unlivable.

Luckily no injuries were reported, however a damage estimate is not available yet.
