When I was a kid I wanted to be a cop. I loved watching cop shows and wanted to be just my heroes Mannix, Kojak, Jim Rockford or the guys on Adam-12 or Dragnet. I thought they were the coolest cats on TV. What kid didn't want to wear a badge and defend all that was good?

Now that I am supposedly all grown up things haven't changed that much. Cops are still my heroes. I have many friends in law enforcement and will read their posts on Facebook talking about their days and all I can think of is how glad I am we have them out there. They leave for work each day having no idea what may come their way. Their families wait at home and hope mom, dad, husband or wife comes home safely. They keep our cities and homes safe, yet they only seem to hear the negative from people. We only see them when we are in trouble or in need and they are always there to help and do their jobs. There are so many outstanding men and women out there every day wearing the badge and uniform who never receive a hint of gratitude from the general public. Make sure you go out of your way to thank a cop today. I don't mean to go out and break the law so you get arrested and then have a chance to say thank you, I mean if you see one in the store or coffee shop, walk up and just say thank you. You will make their day and they deserve it. Thank you for all you do to the boys and girls in blue.
