Over the weekend my wife and I were walking with some friends in Downtown Fort Collins. We came upon a fenced off area in Old Town Square, when was reminded of the Downtown Development Authority's renovation project! which began the week of March 23. After 30 years, they decided it's time to refresh Old Town Square.

On March 12, during its monthly meeting, the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors approved the $2.86 million construction contract. They decided, "The infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifecycle and maintenance costs have increased, making it more feasible to create and implement a renovation plan."

When will it be done?

Completion of the project is expected to be in time for NewWestFest in mid-August. The first phases of the renovation will include demolition of the existing stage, the kiosk and some outdoor patio railings along with the replacement of paverv stones in some areas of the plaza.
