Why I Have a Problem With the Term “Gun Violence” – Brian’s Blog [VIDEO]

I try to stay away from addressing politics or controversial topics if I can because I want people to like me. I remember the old Sammy Kershaw tune that said the three things you never talk about are politics, religion and her. I try to live that but there has been a term flying around the news lately that has me shaking my head and that is 'gun violence.'

I know we are all very sensitive to the issue right now due to all the terrible violence we have been seeing globally but I honestly do not feel that guns are to blame, people are. There is no gun violence, there is people violence. You never hear the term 'knife violence' or 'fist violence' or 'bomb violence' or 'vehicular violence' so why guns? I blame the person behind the trigger not the trigger. I don't feel that any regulations or laws would have prevented any of the violence that has occurred. We need to fix people. They are the problem . We need less children brought into the world by parents who aren't prepared to make the sacrifices needed to devote their time to raising them and being there for them for all their needs. We need to communicate and have family dinners. We need to teach values, morals, self worth and respect for others and show them the ways to happiness and give them the tools to success. No matter what we do there will always be a few of us that are just broken and need professional help and unfortunately some people are just pure evil. They will always find a way to try to inflict their damage no matter what laws are put into effect.

I don't claim to be an expert on anything. I am just a man who has spent 50 years in this wacky world and try to make sense of it just like you. I totally understand those who would love to see guns disappear. I get where you are coming from and what you hope would be achieved by it. I applaud your love of people and wanting to protect the world but the majority of people who have guns have them to protect themselves or enjoy the sport of hunting or target shooting. I don't blame Little Debbie for my weight, I did that. We need to quit blaming guns for the violence that people inflict. People are the ones that need to be fixed. This is just my opinion and you are free to have your own and totally disagree with me. I respect that. Both sides have very valid points. I just had to get this one off my chest. Have a peaceful day and do what can to make the world a better place today.
