Winner of 2 Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career, Whitney Houston, died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at the age of 48 despite resuscitation efforts today.  Houston's body was discovered by her bodyguard around 6:55PM ET.

 

Publicist Kristen Foster has confirmed that Whitney Houston has died but the cause is unknown and still under investigation.

Police have confirmed that she was in fact pronounced dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 6:55PM Eastern Time despite resuscitation efforts after being found by her bodyguard.

There were no signs of criminal intent.

Her album "Whitney" was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts.

She has sold 200 million albums world wide and holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Grambling State University in Louisiana.
