When Zac Brown and the guys come to town, it’s a big deal. Everybody wants to go. They put on a real down to Earth show that all ages enjoy.  They did a show at Coors Field over July 4th weekend, and though it was phenomenal, one song stood out—because they didn’t play it.

On July 3rd 2015, Coors Field held one of most exciting events to happen there in years, and it wasn’t a baseball game. Sorry Rockies, it was a near sold-out concert featuring The Zac Brown Band! Zac and the guys showed the Mile High City great energy, unreal talent, and got the crowd singing and dancing for over two hours! I even bought a shirt! I can’t even tell you the last time I bought a shirt at a concert!

They played a lot of songs, no question.  Notable cover songs featured ‘Let it Be’, ‘Enter Sandman’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. That shows you the scope of a Zac Brown show- country music along with The Beatles, Metallica and Queen. No holding back. Yet, they did hold back ONE song.

There’s not one song that they played at Coors Field that I wish they hadn’t played, but for them not to play this particular song, I found striking:

Free.’ They didn’t play it! Are you kidding me?

That fantastic into, with Jimmy on the violin; the great vocals; the way it makes you feel: ‘We’ll live in van and just travel around- free.’ I was dismayed that it didn’t make the set list!  When you consider that it was the day before the 4th of July, where America celebrates its FREEDOM, it makes it an even bigger missed opportunity! I was ready for that whole stadium to sing along; then maybe it would go into The Star Spangled Banner… Yet, no.

To me, they may as well not played ‘Colder Weather.’ OK, that’s not true. If they hadn’t played ‘Colder Weather’ I would have started throwing chairs around!  Still, to not play ‘Free’, takes this from a 5 out of 5 star rating, to 4.5 out of 5.
