I can vividly remember my first day of school. I went to get on the bus and ripped the back of my pants wide open. I tied my jacket around behind me and walked backwards all day. My parents were waiting at the bus stop when I arrived home from my first day and were surprised to see my butt backing off the bus as the first sight they saw.

My grandson Zander started preschool last week. I cannot believe he is old enough to go. Where does the time go? I am so happy he is going. He will learn how to play with others and how to listen and how to be proud of what he does. He loves it already. He got in a little trouble on day 2 when he was found peeing outside on the playground. I blame myself as I have taught him the redneck version of what a backyard is for. I have to make sure he knows that a fort at school is not a duck blind and you have to use your public manners. Day 3 of preschool he told me that the hooptie hoop, which I believe was a hula hoop, fell off his body and another kid picked it up. He then told me the teacher told him he had to learn patience. The coolest thing happened on day 4...he brought home this!!!

He even came right home and hung it on the fridge where it is supposed to be. My little buddy is growing up. This is his new jacket for school. He will keep the playground safe.
