What It’s Like Getting to Meet Garth Brooks – Brian’s Blog [PICTURES]

I had the most amazing experience on Saturday night. I got to meet Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood! I don't usually get starstruck but this was an exception. I was nervous all day wondering what I would say to him during my expected minute to minute and half with him. Boy was I in for a surprise.

We were to meet at stage right at 6 pm so we were there at 3:45 to sit out front and watch people. It was so cool to see people walking around just smiling at the thought of getting to see Garth in concert again. This is something most folks thought they would never get to see again. We got into the venue at 5:30 and went to our seats to just stare at that stage with the big "G" above it. Garth was back!

There were only 9 of us radio folks from Colorado who were invited to take part in this special meet and greet with Garth and Trisha. I have said many times that Garth was the coolest artist I had ever met. I met him in 1992 at McNichols arena when he was there with Chris LeDoux and Martina McBride and it was an experience that had never been matched until Saturday night. My wife even carries the ticket stub from that night in her purse.

We were split into 2 groups and brought to rooms to wait. My group of five people were then ushered to a another room. We got to the door and when it opened there were Garth and Trisha standing at the door to welcome us in and have a seat. It felt like you were just welcomed into their home. They had us sit down and then they sat and joined us and just talked like old friends for at least 10 minutes. I was made to feel so welcome and it felt like we had known them for years. Kyla got to show him her ticket stub from 1992 and he thought was just awesome. He wondered if people were enjoying the shows and if there were any complaints. He really cares about what people think of his shows. I got to thank him for bringing so much joy with his comeback. I got to tell him how happy he is making people and what a wonderful vibe his visit has brought our area. Trisha and Garth both said they were blown away by the love they have felt from our state. Our time ended with a chance to stand with them for a photo. He nuzzled my wife twice and she may never wash again. I have never seen her so happy. There is a reason he is the biggest star in the music business. Nobody treats their fans better than Garth and Trisha.

We left the room and there waiting for us were these beautiful gift bags full of treats from Garth and Trisha. I will never forget Saturday night. It was like a dream.
