Yesterday was a first for me. I had my very first colonoscopy. I am a 52 year old man and everyone my age needs to have one of these...period. I am trying to take care of all aspects of my health and this colonoscopy has been on my mind since I turned 50 so it was time to get it done.

I went to UC Health Medical Center of the Rockies and the whole crew there were absolutely fantastic. They made me feel as comfortable as possible for this procedure and had great smiles and attitudes. It really makes you relax a little, which is quite beneficial when you are about to have a camera crew shoved up your backside.

The night before the procedure is the hellish part. You have to drink an entire jug of some kind of colon cleanser, the one I am holding in the photo above, the night before and it will clean you out like human Liquid Plumber. I powered it down in my Jerrod Niemann "Drink to That All Night" glass and waited about an hour or so before my body started making noises like an old house settling, a dial up modem and Deep Rock Water bottle glurging all at the same time. It was an ugly explosive evening and at one point I swore I heard the voice of the house in the Amityville Horror saying "Get out!" from inside my body somewhere.

Once the fireworks show ended I slept great. The next morning it was time to go check in for the actual procedure. The procedure was actually nothing at all. It was over before I knew it and was on my way back home. They put me under and when I woke it wasn't even a memory. It was an absolute breeze. If you are in my age group and haven't had yours yet...do it. Early detection is the greatest defense against any serious conditions that could arise. Still feeling better every day!! BTW..they did not find any of the items I was hoping for in my previous blog.
