Last weekend my wife Kyla and I went on a trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I love my wife more than anything in the world and my only goal is to see her smile. I don't always succeed at this. My wife loves to travel and I do not. She wants to see different parts of the world and experience other cultures and people. I am not nearly as adventurous. We decided the thing to do was to go for a road trip vacation so I could still be in control and go at my pace and bring all the comforts of home with me. We set out for the Grand Canyon to see one of the most amazing sights in all of the world.

The first night we drove to Cortez, Colorado and spent the night there. The next morning we woke up early and headed to the Four Corners so we could stand in four states at once. I am big enough to flow over the borders of four states! Thank goodness Donald Trump hasn't built a wall around any of the corners yet.

After standing in the corners we then headed to the Grand Canyon. It is such an amazing sight that everyone should see at least once in their lives. My wife stood there and teared up as she looked at this natural wonder.

I am terrified of heights but I even had to get out and look at the majestic beauty that God put before us. I was a bit shaky but had to take it in.

After taking in the wonders of the Grand Canyon we began our drive into the beauty of the red rocks of Sedona. What an incredible sight that is! It is like Estes Park on steroids. The beauty was mind blowing but the people were less than wonderful. We felt very out of place. Everyone treated us like we were about 10 years too young and had one less zero in our income than needed to fit in there. The scenery was awesome but I can't say it was a welcoming community.

My favorite part was driving above Sedona and watching the sunset over the city and seeing the sun set on those rock formations. Breathtaking.

We then drove to Phoenix the next night to have dinner with my aunt, uncle and cousins whom I hadn't seen in nearly 35 years. That was the highlight of the trip for me. There is nothing like family.

What I came to realize on this trip is that although I saw some mind blowing scenery and saw lots of new people and ate at different restaurants, there is no place like home. I already live in the most beautiful part of the world with the most wonderful people on the planet and have the best food anywhere on the globe. I am already where I want to be. There is no place in this world like Colorado and I love it here. This is home and I love home.
