With the summer in full swing, it's a shame that folks in Windsor, Colorado won't be able to cool off at Windsor Lake- at least for a while.

Find out why- inside!

Windsor Lake

Windsor Lake was closed on Monday until further notice by the Town of Windsor. This includes the swim beach at Boardwalk Park, motorized and non-motorized boating and boat rentals.  The town took the action after some swimmers became ill-

Melissa Chew, director of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the Town of Windsor said samples taken from the lake outside the beach out-of-bounds area Friday tested positive for the E. coli bacteria. She said additional testing was conducted Monday at other parts of the beach with results expected Tuesday.

The Weld County Health Department is actively investigating reports of illnesses from individuals who reportedly swam at the lake recently. The town will continue to work with the health department on testing and appropriate measures for reopening the lake as soon as possible. Bacterial outbreaks of a variety of sources are possible in agricultural related bodies of water such as Windsor Lake. The swim beach has not had a closure since it opened in 2008.

Wow.  We hope everybody's OK- and that Windsor Lake gets cleared to reopen - SOON!
