Weld County Peace Officer’s Memorial Ceremony [PICTURES]
About 200 people gathered yesterday for the Weld County Peace Officer’s Memorial Ceremony at the Fallen Officer’s Memorial in Bittersweet Park in Greeley. Last year, 6 enforcement officers died in the line of duty in Colorado. They were honored yesterday.
According to the Greeley Tribune, Weld County Sheriff John Cooke spoke to the crowd after names of each of the 120 men and women who died in the line of duty last year were read out loud. The Fallen Officer’s Memorial was just completed last year. The names of the seven fallen officers from Weld County are permanently etched in black granite, which was arranged in the shape of the star in a sheriff’s badge.
